GoFitJo Talks With Us About Her New (and Free) Recipe + Food Prep Guide

Mother, fitness/health blogger, and nutrition coach, Joanne Encarnacion, better known as GOFITJO, is balancing it all and just recently added one more thing to her plate. Between raising two daughters, balancing a healthy lifestyle, and sharing her fitness/health journey with us through social media and her blog, Joanne recently launched her latest undertaking: a totally free (yes you read that right, free!) recipe and food-prepping guide. From meal-prepping tips to what you should be buying at the grocery store, Joanne’s guide shares a collection of her favorite go-to healthy recipes. We were so excited when we heard about this, so we caught up with Joanne to ask her a few juicy questions all about her guide!

WW: What was the inspiration for creating GoFitEats? Was there a demand from your readers who were inspired by your journey into a healthier lifestyle?
GFJ: I wanted to create an easy guide for people to use when it came to some of my recipes that I share on Instagram or my blog. I would often get questions about meal prepping or healthy eating because I’m a busy career mom who loves simple, healthy, and no fuss meals that I can enjoy and my family can enjoy too. I think there will always be a demand on finding inspiring ways to eat healthy not just from my readers but from everyone in general, so yes I would say there was a quiet rumbling demand for one.
WW: We love all of the recipes that are included in GoFitEats! Which one is your favorite go to meal?
GFJ: I think my favorite go to meal is the simple ground bison that I turn into a bison bowl like I suggest in the recipe guide. It’s a great dish to prep and serve on top of others for a healthy dose of lean protein. I often times have the bison and quinoa together topped with an egg for breakfast for a protein packed meal before my workout or post workout.
WW: Last year our company, WiseWear, gifted you the Duchess from the Socialite Collection. As well as tracking activity, the Duchess counts calories. Do you find this feature to be helpful when planning meals throughout the day?
GFJ: I rarely count calories these days since I focus more on intuitive eating. However I think in the days where I used to it probably would’ve been an amazing tool to have. I’m a huge fan of intuitive eating because listening to our bodies has become a lost ancient art.
WW: We know instead of cheat meals that you call them victory meals. So when you indulge in a victory meal what does it consist of? Do you prefer something sweet or savory?
GFJ: I’m a huge fan of both. I love me a really good burger or a meal high in protein like pork chops or a steak that I didn’t make. After that victory meal I’ll need some sort of sweet to balance it out. Sometimes a kid sized gelato or frozen yogurt does the trick!
WW: How do you stay organized while prepping your meals? Is their any advice for people looking to do the same thing?
GFJ: I’m pretty nerdy when it comes to organizing my fitness and my meal plan. I typically use a program called My Fitness Pal to create my menus for the week, I don’t fully track macros since I don’t have any specific goals in mind but I do like to pay attention to my body and listen to the queues. So providing myself a little structure helps me to understand what sort of carbs or proteins don’t do well for me in that week. Then I import that entire PDF into an app called Evernote so I can sync it across my devices along with my weight training splits. It’s a little OCD, but totally works for me. When it comes to meal prepping I like to cook all my proteins using one heat source. For example if I’m baking fish, then I’’ll bake or roast my veggies along with it. If I’m using the grill, it’ll be grilled veggies for me that week. It helps me keep meal prepping enjoyable by not having so many pots or pans to clean up. After that I line up all my meal prep containers and its like an assembly line measuring things out and packing it up.
WW: Where did you come up with the rules in the GoFitEats guide? We especially love Rule #1!
GFJ: These were my own rules to live by the moment I learned how to balance out my dedication to my fitness goals when I was competing to then living a balance and normal none athlete lifestyle. Rule #1 is also my favorite because I think we forget to enjoy life when we become so focused on a fitness goal or perfecting the week by checking off all the clean meals or the workouts we need to accomplish. There’s so much pressure around showing others we’re working hard towards our goals when in reality we need to be proving that hard work to ourselves.
WW: Are any of the meals in the GoFitEats guide inspired by your Filipino roots?
GFJ: Not in this one, but I do need to share my chicken adobo. Maybe that’ll be in an upcoming guide!
WW: Do you incorporate any of your mother’s cooking techniques when creating your meals?
GFJ: I incorporate them when cooking Filipino dishes. My mom only cooked Filipino food so she wasn’t one who grilled, baked, or roasted her dishes. We ate a lot of protein based stews, rice dishes, and fried foods.
WW: What are some of the challenges you face when meal prepping?
GFJ: Let’s be real, boredom. Some days I’m really kicking myself in the butt for having to eat the same set of meals for 7 days straight. So what I started to do was meal prep twice a week, on Sunday and on Wednesday. This helped me stick to the same macros and main ingredients while switching up the flavors and seasonings.
WW: The GoFitEats guide encourages readers to plan ahead and prepare meals for the upcoming week. What if some readers cannot prepare ahead or forget to take a meal with them if they are out of the house. Do you have any advice for eating healthy when out running errands or traveling?
GFJ: My favorite “oh crap I forget to pack my meals” place to eat is Chipotle, I can always get burrito bowl and half them ease up on the carbs so I can stick closely to the menus I’ve created. Another little life hack would be to simply pack some almonds in your bag or in your car. Raw almonds are such a great source of healthy fats and protein that can help to keep you satiated throughout your busy day. If you’re traveling and in an airport, try to go for the fresh stuff rather than anything that comes in a package. I know that might be challenging and cost a fortune, but your health is wealth. If you invest in yourself in little increments like choosing a healthier salad option over a bag of chips then in the long run you might save yourself a buck or two when it comes to medical bills.
WW: We love the section Spice It Up in the meal planning guide! (The Hawaiian Marinade sounds especially tasty). Which one is your favorite? Is there a favorite among your family?
GFJ: The Hawaiian Marinade is a family favorite and personal favorite. We love that marinade on everything. The other might be the lemon one because you can add any other sauces on top of your protein to flavor it a little differently.
WW: For those reluctant to take the plunge into meal planning/prep (or those who just think they don’t have the time or patience for meal planning) what words of inspiration or encouragement can you offer them?
GFJ: I would say just try it for a week. You don’t need to commit to it for a lifetime and do what works for you. Some weeks I only prep two meals for 3 days because I know I’ve got a busy social calendar which requires me to dine out. I rarely have a fear of pulling out my tupperware in public but somedays I want to eat on a plate just like the rest of the group.
WW: We would love to know what you’re currently working on and what we can expect to see from GoFitJo in the future?
GFJ: You can expect me to build out more video content library on my YouTube channel and take 1 on 1 clients for holistic health and nutrition coaching. I’m hoping that by 2018 I’ll be gearing up to start hosting wellness retreats both in CA and in Hawaii, mainly Hawaii.

Courtney Bentley: Inspiring, Empowering and Igniting Women To Make Fitness A Part Of Their Everyday Lifestyle

As a certified personal trainer, sports nutrition expert, behavior change specialist, coach and podcaster, you could say Courtney Bentley is the ultimate fit-spiration. Referring to herself as a “recovered self-hater,” Courtney struggled with her eating habits and fitness routine. After getting her body moving in the right way and treating it like a temple, Courtney discovered self-love. Through podcasting at Fit, Fierce and Fabulous as well as writing on her blog, Courtney has made it her mission to inspire, empower and ignite women to make fitness a part of their everyday lifestyle. After learning about her inspiring story, we recently had the opportunity to sit down with Courtney and find out more about her podcast, personal struggles, and her Fit and Fabulous Club!

WW: Your Fit Fierce and Fabulous podcast was recently created. What has been the response so far from your fans?

CB: I feel like creating Fit, Fierce and Fabulous was a way to deeply connect with my audience in a unique way. I consider myself an experiment in that I love meeting new people, researching and learning more about alternative therapies, exercises and nutritional avenues. I love learning and the ability to share experts, my experiences and stories through podcasting has been such a gift. I feel so blessed to have people who follow along and comment on the episodes on how each episode has connected with them or how a tip from an expert changed someone’s life. I love motivating people to think outside the box and focus on loving themselves and their life just a bit more each and everyday.

WW: You talk a lot about personal issues you have gone through in your life, is it hard opening up to such huge audience? Were you scared sharing such personal moments?

CB: No way, I feel like we are all human and that we all experience different paths, struggles and wins. The more I open up, the more I learn that I am not the only one. In a society where we are pressured to be picture perfect with happiness flowing through our veins at all times we only share those insta-worthy moments and that is just not real life. I love talking, so using my podcast as a way to share the struggles, to share the hard times and also how I got through each and every rough patch is such a gift. I also fee l like I can open up more and explain, using captions or writing makes it difficult at least for me to gather the emotion and share that, speaking really helps do just that.

WW: A lot of women in this day and age have problems with self image and love. Did you ever have a struggle with these issues? If so, what have you done to overcome them?

CB: Majorly, up until 23 years old I was bulimic and had a distorted image of who I was and what I actually looked like. I still to this day have to go back to my affirmations on days I feel bloated or feel low. I talk a lot about this story and affirmations on episode 008 if you are interested in a deeper understanding. Affirmations, meditation and going to the gym changed my life. When I work out I take all my negative energy and put it out into my workouts, I lift heavier, I move quicker and I empower myself through moving my body. If you feel down, take a moment, a breathe and go dance or go to the gym, this will release all those negative emotions and make you feel empowered and amazing all at the same time.

WW: We love how your podcast incorporates so many topics from mediation to how to dress for a Fit Fierce and Fabulous lifestyle. How do you come up with so many interesting topics?

CB: Thank you so much, I really try to bring on interesting guests who live their passions. When I go to look for experts or think of topics, I revert back to three main questions. What does my audience need in terms of living a fit, fierce and fabulous lifestyle, what does that involve and who is an expert in that avenue. I love bringing in strong, empowering women who support each other and are passionate about what they do. I think its so important to share our gifts and lift one another up.

WW: You’re so open with your podcast audience but what’s something that your followers may not know about you?

CB: I love music and at one time wanted to be a DJ and actually trained to be one. Music for me has been the one thing I can turn to whenever I need an instant mega boost. If I have to be up for a client and I am tired, I turn on some Black Eyed Peas and I instantly want to dance around and my energy will just boost automatically. I always tell people to create an instant mood boosting music playlist to keep with them and to have whenever you feel like you need an instant boost.

WW: Tell us more about your Fit and Fabulous Club.

CB: The Fit and Fabulous Club was created as a way to help more women get fit and feel fabulous. I was noticing a gap in flexibility with workout programs and ease of accessing a workout no matter what so I created that with a community, meal plans and courses. I wanted to create a community of women who were all over the world working out together and connecting around one subject. I felt like I was meeting so many women who were putting off working out due to schedule and lack of time so I wanted to make workouts that were 20 minutes or less, could be done at home and could be accomplished at anytime! Using my app, I send new workout programs every 6-8 weeks to my members along with meal plans that are quick, easy and effective. On top of that, I give live workshops every week to explain more about nutrition and movement demos so everyone feels like they have that personal coach to motivate them. I am working at this moment on a meal prep course where I take the members into my kitchen to learn how to cook quickly and make nutritious and healthy meals in minutes!

WW: We love everything that you’re doing! What can we expect to see from you in the future?
CB: In the future I would love to do a retreat or live event with a group of other women who are making waves in the wellness space. As of this year I will be 100% focused on my podcast, I plan to look into this avenue in the future as I grow and connect with likeminded experts in the wellness and health space. I love connecting with people in person which is why I would love to do an event or retreat so I can meet people and talk to them! Working as a solo-prenuer is awesome but lack of in person communication can be lonely sometimes so have that in the books would really help me see the impact of the work I do!

8 Things That (We Believe) Boost Confidence

The word “confidence” shouldn’t be scary or something we think we can’t achieve. At WiseWear, our goal is to make sure every woman feels confident wearing our Socialite Collection, no matter where they are. But our bracelets aren’t the only things that make us feel confident (although they sure do help). Today, we are sharing 8 things that we believe boost confidence.

1. A Bright/Bold Lipstick

Who says it has to be a special occasion in order to whip out the red lipstick? Many women feel confident when they get all dressed up and wear a bold lip. So what if you rocked a bright lip color during the day? Instead of making a statement with your lips at night, change it up and make one during the day. People will love the fact that you are trying something different!

2. A Pretty Dress

Wearing your favorite sweatpants may be the most comfortable thing in the world, but we know they don’t always make us feel like we look our best. Try wearing a comfy, pretty floral dress when running errands. We promise it will make you feel like you actually put some effort into your look (even if you’re bare-faced or it was a dry shampoo kind of day)!

3. A Great Skincare Routine

Instead of piling on the makeup day after day and stressing out about covering up your imperfections, put time and thought into your skincare. When you carefully choose skincare products that are actually targeting what your skin needs, it makes your makeup application so much easier. Plus the better your skin looks, the better you will feel inside and out.

4. A New Haircut/Hair-Do

When you have been stuck with the same haircut or hairstyle for too long, it can become very boring. Sometimes you just need to try something totally different from your current do and take a risk. If you are someone with long, pin-straight hair, try chopping off those luscious locks (as scary as that sounds) and throw some beach waves spray in there. Or incorporate little braids to give your hair some contrast. Sporting a new hairstyle oddly feels like you’re a brand new woman and can give you a boost of confidence.

5. Buy Yourself Some New Shoes

This one is sort of a no-brainer and let’s face it, almost every woman is good at this. I think we can all agree that when you’re not feeling your absolute best, purchasing a brand spanking new pair of shoes cheers you up almost instantly.

6. Go Get A Manicure

Spending time (and splurging a bit) on yourself, whether it’s your nails, hair, or eyebrows, can make you feel really good about yourself. When you start neglecting your appearance, it tends to have a negative effect on your well-being. Set time for yourself once a week to go get a manicure (or even do it yourself at home).

7. Eat Healthy and Get Enough Exercise

Consuming a healthy, balanced diet and getting your body moving often go hand in hand. Both can be really hard to achieve, mostly because things like life and responsibilities tend to get in the way. But we must remember that when we take care of our bodies and give them the proper nutrients that they need, it allows our minds to feel empowered and to view life in a more positive way, thus giving us that boost of confidence!

8. Socialite Collection

So we may be a bit biased on this last one, but our Socialite Collection really does boost our confidence! WiseWear uses innovative technology to develop features like distress messaging, activity tracking, and mobile notifications. No matter where you are in the world, our Socialite Collection keeps you informed about your own activity, up to date with your loved ones, and most importantly- it works to keep you safe. So you can be confident whether you’re running to the store or vacationing far away from home.

Former Miss Texas International 2005, Breanna Allerkamp, Shares Her Story To Inspire Others With Cancer

FORMER MISS TEXAS INTERNATIONAL 2005, BREANNA ALLERKAMP, believes in taking full advantage of time. Married since 2012, Breanna and her husband Jim know just how precious time is since Breanna’s cancer diagnosis in June of 2012 at the age of 27. After being married for only a month Breanna was diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer on June 4, 2012. Breanna remembers telling her mom, “I don’t want to die.” Her mom and her doctor both said, “you will not – we will fight it.”

After meeting with a surgeon and oncologist to determine her next steps, Breanna flew to the Cleveland Clinic to get a second opinion. In July of 2012 she had a double mastectomy and her port for chemotherapy was put in. Breanna started chemotherapy in August 2012 and ended in December 2012 after six treatments. She then started a year of targeted therapy with Herceptin.

Although the former pageant winner received a clean bill of health after her mastectomy, her treatment continued. After taking Tomoxifen, an estrogen blocker, for three years, Breanna came off of the drug in January of 2016 because she and her husband were ready to start a family. During this time Breanna returned to college and received her Masters in Business in May of 2016. In July of 2016 Breanna and Jim started IVF, but in August 2016 doctors did an ultrasound and found the cancer had returned and had spread to her pectoral muscle and lymph nodes. Doctors recommended that the couple not continue trying to have children due to the estrogen in her body as  Breanna’s cancer is estrogen driven and she is a carrier of the BRAC gene.

This time the cancer was Stage 3 and required Breanna to endure 16 rounds of chemotherapy. She will have surgery again this month and radiation will start 4-6 weeks after surgery, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

When asked about her future hopes and dreams, Breanna, of course, hopes to face the future cancer-free and possibly add to her family by adoption or surrogacy.

Breanna tells her story to offer her first-hand knowledge of the disease to help others as well as to inspire those who are going through a cancer diagnosis to have hope and to continue to live life to the fullest. She feels that positivity goes a long way – stay positive no matter how difficult it seems. You can do it!

Breanna and her husband Jim love to travel every chance they get, but are happy to be settled in their home with their beloved corgi, Hugo.

Fitness + Lifestyle Blogger GOFITJO Shares Her Fitness Journey With Us

Joanne Encarnacion, aka GOFITJO, is a fitness and lifestyle blogger whose main focus is to convey how important achieving self-love and self-confidence through fitness and wellness is for all the hardworking women out there. In addition to managing her fitness/lifestyle blog 24/7, she is also the mother to two daughters and in the process of becoming a certified health and nutrition coach. If that doesn’t scream #GirlBoss, we don’t know what does! Joanne took the time out of her busy schedule to let us know more about the inspiring woman behind GOFITJO, her advice for women juggling it all, and what she loves most about her Duchess smart bracelet.

1. Tell us more about you, your blog, GOFITJO, and how your fitness journey began.

Hello my name is Joanne Encarnacion, but I also go by Jo. I’m a fitness and lifestyle blogger from SF Bay area raising two beautiful daughters with my incredibly talented husband Jonathan. I’m currently becoming a certified health and nutrition coach and so excited to helping people design their lives around movement and proper nourishment. My life wasn’t always this way though. I’ve been working for as long as I can remember and when you’ve focused a lot of your energy on your career and building a life sometimes your own health gets put on the backburner. A little over 3 years ago I found myself battling with depression and realizing that it was caused by my lack of self care and focus on my health and wellbeing. I was getting ready for a Sunday family outing with my little family and as I was checking out myself for the final time in my daughter’s full length mirror, my daughter Airis, who was 9 years old at the time said to me, “Mom you look so pretty.” I quickly snapped at her and said, “No I’m not; I’m fat and ugly.” The look on her face is one I will never forget, I crushed her heart. In her eyes I was her queen, the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. She took off running into the hallway upset with me. This was my “aha” moment. It all of a sudden clicked, how could I be the example of a strong woman if I didn’t see that in myself? How could I tell her she’s beautiful, capable and talented if I couldn’t even see that in me? This is when I knew things had to change. I started to change my relationship with food and exercise and began to truly see the effects of a healthier lifestyle that had fitness and nourishment as it’s cornerstone. What began as a weight loss journey became a lifelong journey of self development, growth, and continuous practice of self-love.

2. How do you juggle all of the responsibilities of being a full-time fitness/lifestyle blogger and a mother of two kids?

It takes a lot of support from my partner in crime my husband, organization skills, and a lot of heart and hustle. Aside from full-time fitness/lifestyle blogger I’m also studying to become a certified health and nutrition coach, which has got me spending most of my free time hitting the books. As the former Director of Curation at VSCO I’ve always had to juggle a pretty full plate especially working in the start up world. Part of that juggle is understanding that balance is individual and doesn’t look the same for everyone. I live off of my Google Calendar so everything from my workouts, family events, school tests, blogging, content/collaboration deadlines, my husband’s work calendar, and my social calendar are all in one place. If it’s not there, I get a little lost. I’ve learned to embrace life in the present, taking it hour by hour at a time. This approach has really helped me take control of a busy day and keep things from feeling to overwhelmed. Having an adaptable approach to a jam packed calendar is truly the key to balance.

3. What was your Aha! moment that propelled you into the world of fitness blogging?

High school was a tough period of my life. My folks moved around a lot so my relationships with friends were constantly shifting and changing. It always seemed as if my foundations were always shifting and because of that I turned to journaling and writing. I found myself sharing my struggles of growing up with depression to my church community during high school and its when I realized at a young age that sharing our stories of struggle was the the best way to heal and build a sense of belonging. When I started my fitness journey I knew I needed support. It was my first time embarking on something this big and I knew how much I succeed in it. At the time I shared my fitness journey on Instagram, I used it as a daily journal. About a year into my fitness journey I decided to start a blog and one thing really lead to another. Now it’s become a destination for inspiration and connection for some and it’s awesome!

4. What would be the biggest piece of advice you could give to someone who is struggling with low self-esteem?

Stop comparing yourself to others and remember that you’re amazing as you are. The hardest thing is that often times the causes of self-esteem issues are lack of self-worth. The best thing to do is to do a quick inventory on your life and the things that matter the most and bring you happiness and joy. Then ask yourself how do you get more of that into your life.

5. We know that a healthy mind equals a healthy body. With that being said, how do you keep a healthy mind/outlook while focusing on your fitness goals?

I practice gratitude daily. Most of my workouts begin with a 5 minute warm-up during that time instead of focusing on trying to turn on the “beast mode”, I focus on the things I’m grateful for such as an able body and my overall health. There are others in this world who are struggling to get out of bed due to some illness or those who were born unable to walk. Finding gratitude in the things we have currently have always allowed me to have a much more healthier approach to what I do in life especially my fitness goals.

6. Being so busy must take a toll on you personally. Tell us some of your favorite ways you like to unwind.

Some of my favorite ways to unwind include a workout, but in the moments that I can’t get that in or I’ve already done that for the day retreating to my bedroom diffusing essential oils while I meditate get me grounded immediately. Some other favorites are warm epsom salt baths, quiet dinners with the family, and walking around Target alone (yes sometimes this is one way I unwind).

7. As a mother of two young daughters, what is your advice to them on staying healthy and having a positive body image?

Often times in our house we focus a lot of characteristics that are not physical. My youngest who is 6 will point out the things she loves about her older sister’s personality. My eldest daughter is 12 and that is such a crucial age to start laying down the foundation to building a positive and healthy lifestyle. Because my daughter witnessed my transformation and was the catalyst to it, I don’t really give her advice that’s any different than I give a grown woman. We talk openly at home about the changes happening in her body at this age so that it doesn’t become a “weird” thing for her growing up. I think often times we underestimate the influence we have as adults on the younger generation and instead of giving them advice, we need to simply live by example.

8. We know you’ve been wearing your Duchess in gold. Tell us what feature you enjoy the most.

I love the simplicity of the design and the discreet notification alerts. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it as a bracelet and it always throws people off when I say it’s an activity tracker and tech device.

9. WiseWear is all about losing the screen, not the moment. Since most of your day is probably spent in front of a screen, how do you find ways to disconnect?

I set pretty firm boundaries around my tech time. During my workout sessions my phone is typically on do not disturb so that I can put my intention and time into my workout session. When I’m out with friends I rely on my tech devices like Wisewear to send me discreet notifications so that I can focus on the people I’m with. We all have a tendency to get caught up in documenting the moments we live in, but sometimes it’s about just living in the moment. And that is something I try my best to truly honor.

10. What advice would you give other women who are trying to balance motherhood, a career and a healthy lifestyle?

If there is anything I’ve learned from all the women mentors that I’ve had in my life, they are all simply trying to figure it out. We are all just wingin’ it and sometimes the best way to own your life and be the #girlboss in all areas of your life is learning that you can’t do it all and accepting that things won’t be perfect all the time, but you’re doing your absolute best.

An Inside Look: WISEWEAR x IRIS Launch Party

We officially announced and celebrated our latest collaboration with Iris Apfel on March 18 at the charming Carlyle Hotel, located in the heart of Manhattan. To commemorate this exciting milestone, we invited a handful of New York’s finest tastemakers and trendsetters to join us for a celebratory brunch and meet-and-greet. Attendees included Christina Caradona, Lainy Hedaya, Troy Alexander, Meaghan Hartland, Noelle Sciatica, Melissa Kravitz, Gregory DelliCarpini Jr., Rachel Iwanyszyn, Erica Blumenthal, and more!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the 94-year-old style icon, Apfel has an accomplished background in fashion and interior design, and has spent decades curating her eccentric wardrobe of clothing and accessories from all around the globe. A veteran in the fashion industry, Apfel has developed a taste that is refined, worldly, and unique in every sense. Needless to say, we’re thrilled to see what she’ll bring to the table as we join forces to design our next line of smart jewelry. We hope you enjoy the inside look at our #WISEWEARxIRIS launch party! Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news and updates!

Welcome! First and foremost, we are beyond thrilled to launch our blog so you can get know WiseWear on a more personal level. After all, we’d like to think of ourselves as more than just a tech company… but rather, a resource in the community that touches on health, fashion, technology, and more. Our blog will feature a variety of content, ranging from advice on how to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle to exclusive, behind-the-scenes coverage.

We’d like to dedicate our first blog post to the basics – get to know us!

WHO: WiseWear is a fashion tech hybrid company that creates luxury wearables. While we specialize in advanced sensing technologies, we also have a strong focus on fashion, design, and aesthetics – simply put, making things truly wearable. Our experienced team consists of top engineers and scientists, hailing from Caltech, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, and the University of Texas, whose backgrounds include biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, and applied physics. We also collaborate closely with fashion designers, who have consulted for reputable brands such as Coach, Swatch, Rachel Zoe, and Alexis Bittar.

WHAT: We recently launched our first line of luxury smart jewelry called the Socialite Collection. This line consists of three smart bracelet designs, including the Calder, the Duchess, and the Kingston. The bracelets are fully integrated with advanced features such as activity tracking, mobile notifications, and distress messaging. Each bracelet is made of brass and plated in precious metals such as gold and palladium. Such brass material allows the bracelets to be water-resistant, antimicrobial, hypoallergenic, and considerably more durable than other wearables currently offered in the market. We have plans to continue collaborating with top fashion brands & designers to offer more styles, as well as upcoming product lines that will appeal to both men and women.

WHERE: Our headquarters are located in the heart of the San Antonio medical district. We also have an office in Austin.

WHEN: It all began in September 2013 when Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Wilmink founded the company out of his San Antonio garage.

WHY: Health is important to us – it’s the root of all things. Without it, we can’t fuel forward to think, create, and make the world a better place. Dr. Wilmink founded WiseWear on the belief that healthy lifestyles should be easy to achieve and maintain with the ease of technology. That is, technology that is truly wearable and desired to be worn on a day-to-day basis. Our goal is to make healthy a habit so consumers can better understand their bodies, monitor their health & wellness, and ultimately, live a balanced lifestyle. Beyond technology, fashion and design also play a crucial role in the creative ingenuity behind our products. We strive to create wearables that serve a true purpose, without sacrificing style.

So what now? Visit us often and be on the lookout for exciting new content published on a weekly basis. Stay in the loop as we roll out new features, styles, designs, and product updates. And don’t be shy! We’re always happy to hear your thoughts, comments, and suggestions.
